In preparing to meet the needs of a growing community, Baw Baw Shire Council has prepared the draft Yarragon Township Plan (Plan) and Urban Design Framework (UDF) and is seeking community feedback on the draft documents.

The Plan and UDF have been developed following thorough background research, analysis and initial community consultation between 15 November and 15 December 2021.The community consultation included the opportunity to provide feedback via an online survey, meetings with community groups and face-to-face during a community information session held at the Yarragon Community Craft and Produce Market on 27 November 2021.

The feedback received during the initial consultation highlighted a strong community emphasis on the importance of enhancing the character of the town centre area. As a result, the scope of the Urban Design Framework component of the project has become more detailed and is now a separate document accompanying the Yarragon Township Plan.

As part of the overall project, both the the Plan and UDF will consider important issues like land use, open space and public realm, connectivity and built form design, and will guide decision making about investment, development and infrastructure improvements.

Once completed, the Plan will also be used as a basis for formal changes to the Baw Baw Planning Scheme, through revised planning controls.
