Animal Businesses

The Domestic Animal Act 1994 requires applications to register a domestic animal business, for pet shops, shelters, pounds, breeding, rearing, training and boarding establishments.

Council officers will inspect the property to ensure compliance with the Code of Practice pursuant to the Domestic Animal Act. You will be contacted to arrange a suitable inspection time.

The registration is renewable annually on 10 April and is not transferable unless the Council is notified in writing at least 30 days prior to the transfer.
