Native Vegetation
A Planning Permit is required to remove native vegetation from all lots that are greater than 0.4 hectares (1 acre) in size. In some circumstances a Planning Permit may also be required to remove native vegetation regardless of the size of the land, for example, where the vegetation is protected by heritage or other controls.
We recommend you contact our Planning Department on 5624 2411, with the precise property address, to determine if a Planning Permit is required for the removal of vegetation from your land.
Clause 52.17 of the Baw Baw Planning Scheme provides exemptions for when a planning permit is not required to remove native vegetation. Please note that these exemptions only apply when a permit for the vegetation removal is not required by an Overlay.
For application requirements, refer to the checklists in the Related Information section on this page.
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning has more information about applying for permitted clearing of native vegetation.
