Australia Day Community Events

There are number of community events held across the Shire to celebrate Australia Day (Sunday 26 January) in 2025.

Aberfeldy - Sunday 26 January

12:00pm - 4:00pm at Clarke's Flat Cabins (270 Donnelly's Creek Rd, Aberfeldy)

Join in a free community events - live music, activities, flag raising ceremony, lunch and refreshments.

Darnum/Cloverlea - Sunday 26 January

12:00pm at the Darnum Stump Tea Rooms

Celebrate Australia Day with a free community barbecue and activities. 

Drouin - Sunday 26 January

1:00pm - 3:00pm, Civic Park, Drouin

Drouin Australia Day celebration will be held at the Drouin Civic Park & Sound Shell on Sunday 26th January. There will be a sausage sizzle, live music, lawn games and a lot of fun. 

Erica - Sunday 26 January

12:00pm onwards, Erica Pavilion Moe-Walhalla Rawson Road (opposite Erica Hotel)

The Mt Erica Lions will be holding an Australia Day BBQ celebration for the community at the Erica Pavilion from 12pm. There will be a BBQ, icy poles, cans of drink and a raffle, plus much more!

Hill End - Sunday 26 January

6:00pm onwards, Hill End Community Centre (formerly Old Hill End School) 

Come along for a free 2 course meal, flag raising ceremony, activities and entertainment.

Jindivick - Sunday 26 January

6:00pm at the Jindivick Hall

All are welcome to join - please BYO a salad to share and drinks. A BBQ meat and desserts will be supplied.

Labertouche - Sunday 26 January

8:00am - 10:00am and 4:30pm onwards at the Labertouche Community Centre

Come down for the free community BBQ breakfast from 8am.
Return in the afternoon from 4.30pm for some traditional Aussie games and tucker.
 

Longwarry - Sunday 26 January

 11:00am at Bennett Street Park

Free community BBQ, flag raising ceremony, vintage cars, CFA display, games and kids activities.

Narracan - Sunday 26 January

7:00pm at the Narracan Hall

All are welcome, including family and friends, to celebrate Australia Day with a free feast. Feasting begins at 7pm (meat, bread, sauce, crockery, tea and coffee supplied). Please bring a salad and/or sweets and any other drinks to share.

Neerim South - Sunday 26 January

4:30pm Craig Watts Skate Park

Free Community BBQ (commencing at 6pm), activities for all ages and the honouring of the "Neerim District Citizen of the Year".

Shady Creek - Sunday 26 January

12:00pm at the Shady Creek Hall

Join in the free community BBQ and activities.

Tanjil South - Sunday 26 January

12:00pm at the Tanjil South Hall. 

Join in the free community BBQ and activities.

Tetoora Road - Sunday 26 January

4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Tetoora Road Community Centre

Free community BBQ, refreshments and ice cream! Kids activities, backyard cricket & CFA Summer Safety display.

Trafalgar - Sunday 26 January

8:30am at the Trafalgar Public Hall

Come along for breakfast and the presentation of Trafalgar’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards.

Warragul - Sunday 26 January

11:00am- 12:15pm West Gippsland Arts Centre 
Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at the West Gippsland Arts Centre in the Fountain Room. 

11:30am - 2:00pm West Gippsland Arts Centre Forecourt

Enjoy live music from Libby Willems and the Warragul Municipal Band, face painting, lawn games, and a free community BBQ hosted by the Warragul Lions Club.

The flag-raising ceremony will take place at 12:15pm, followed by free family-friendly entertainment and activities by Fiddlesticks.

Yarragon - Sunday 26 January

8:30am Market Street Park (corner Market and Murray Streets)

Come along for a BBQ breakfast, tea and coffee provided.
There will be music and some activities, including a kid's water play activity organised by the Yarragon Fire Brigade.
