ANZAC Day 2024 services across Baw Baw  

This ANZAC Day we’ll come together, in person and in spirit, to commemorate the men and women who have served our nation in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Local services will be conducted at the following war memorials across Baw Baw Shire: 

Thursday 25 April 2024

Aberfeldy – 12:00pm at the Aberfeldy ANZAC memorial

Darnum - 11:00am at the Darnum Cenotaph

Drouin at the Drouin Cenotaph Memorial Park:

  • 6:00am - Dawn Service
  • 9:30am - March from Bendigo Bank Car Park
  • 10:00am - Main Service

Erica – 9:00am at the Erica Cenotaph

Hill End – 10:30am at the Hill End Cenotaph

Jindivick - 11:00am at the Jindivick Cenotaph

Longwarry - 2pm at Longwarry Memorial Park

Longwarry North at the Vietnam Veterans & Veterans Motorcycle Club Australia:

  • 6:00am - Dawn Service
  • 11:00am - Mid-morning Service

Narracan – 9:30am at the Narracan East Cenotaph 

Neerim South - 2pm at Neerim Health Hospital Grounds

Noojee - 6:00am at the Noojee Cenotaph

Thorpdale – 9:00am at the Thorpdale Cenotaph

Trafalgar at the Trafalgar Cenotaph:

  • 6:00am - Dawn Service
  • 11:00am - Main Service

Walhalla – 6:00am at the Walhalla War Memorial

Warragul at the Warragul Cenotaph:

  • 6:00am - Dawn Service
  • 9:50am - March down Victoria Street
  • 10:00am - Main Service

Willow Grove – 9:30am at the Willow Grove Cenotaph

Yarragon - 10:30am at the Yarragon Cenotaph

Attendees are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early.

For those wishing to pay their respects from home, you are encouraged to walk outside, stand in your yard, driveway or on your balcony and observe a minute’s silence at 5:55am as the Last Post is played during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service.    

Temporary road closures

To enable ANZAC Day ceremonies to take place, some roads will be temporarily closed across the Shire.

Drouin

  • Princes Way between Main South Road and Francis Avenue from 5.30am to 7am and
  • Princes Way between Main South Road and Francis Avenue from 9.30am to 11.30am 

All footpaths will remain open.

Erica

Closure of Moe-Walhalla Road between Station Street and Thomson Valley Road

•  Detour via Station Street, Closure of Moe-Walhalla Road between Station Street and Thomson Valley Road

•  Detour via Station Street, Moore Street and Thomson Valley Road  8.30am – 10am.

Trafalgar

  • Contingent Street, between the Princes Highway and Kitchener Street from 10.30am to 11.30am 
  • Kitchener Street between Contingent Street and Wellington Street from 10.30am to 2pm. 

All footpaths will remain open.

Walhalla

Main Road between 5am and 6.45am.

Detours will be in place.

Warragul

  • Smith Street and Victoria Street between Palmerston Street and Queen Street from 5.30am to 7.30am
  • Temporary traffic hold (approx. 5-10 minutes) at Victoria/Palmerston Streets roundabout between 9.55am and 10am.
  • Smith Street and Victoria Street between Palmerston Street and Queen Street from 9.15am to 11.30am.

All footpaths will remain open.
