ANZAC Day 2025 services across Baw Baw  

This ANZAC Day we’ll come together, in person and in spirit, to commemorate the men and women who have served our nation in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Local services will be conducted at the following war memorials across Baw Baw Shire: 

Sunday 20 April 2025

Longwarry 

Special date: The service in Longwarry is held on the Sunday prior to ANZAC Day, which falls on Easter Sunday in 2025.
2:00pm at Longwarry Memorial Park on Koo Wee Rup-Longwarry Road.

Friday 25 April 2025

Aberfeldy

Darnum

11:00am at the Darnum Cenotaph on Cropley Street

Drouin at the Drouin Cenotaph Memorial Park

6:00am - Dawn Service
9:30am - March from Bendigo Bank Car Park
10:00am - Main Service

Erica

9:00am at the Erica Cenotaph on Moe-Walhalla Road

Hill End

Jindivick

Wreaths will also be laid at Neerim, Neerim East and Neerim North (no services at these locations).

Noojee

Thorpdale

Willow Grove

Yarragon

Attendees are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early

For those wishing to pay their respects from home, you are encouraged to walk outside, stand in your yard, driveway or on your balcony and observe a minute’s silence at 5:55am as the Last Post is played during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service.

Temporary road closures

To enable ANZAC Day ceremonies to take place, some roads will be temporarily closed across the Shire.

Drouin

Temporary road closures will be in place on Princes Way (between Main South Road and Francis Avenue) from:

  • 5.30am to 7am for the Dawn Service;
  • 9.30am to 11.30am  for the March and Main Service.

All footpaths will remain open.

Erica

Temporary road closures and diversions will be in place between 8:30am and 10:00am on Moe-Walhalla Road (between Station Street and Thomson Valley Road) to facilitate the service and provide a safe event space for attendees and horses taking part.

Detours will be in place via Station Street, Moore Street and Thomson Valley Road.

Access to local properties will be maintained, however, it would be appreciated to use the alternative routes where possible during that time.

Noojee

Temporary road closures will be in place on Mt Baw Baw Tourist Road (between Henty Street and Bennet Street) from 5:00am to 06:30am, and on Bennet Street (between Henty Street and Mt Baw Baw Tourist Road) between 5:45am and 06:30am.

Trafalgar

Temporary road closures will be in place on:

  • Contingent Street, between the Princes Highway and Kitchener Street from 10.30am to 11.30am 
  • Kitchener Street between Contingent Street and Wellington Street from 10.30am to 2pm. 

All footpaths will remain open.

 

Walhalla

A temporary road closure will be in place from 5:00am and 6:45am on Main Road.

Warragul

Temporary road closures will be in place on Smith Street and Victoria Street (between Palmerston Street and Queen Street) from 5.30am to 7.30am, and again from 9:15am to 11:30am.

A temporary traffic hold (approximately 5-10 minutes) will be in place at the Victoria/Palmerston Streets roundabout between 9.50am and 10:00am.
