Cheng Ming - Internal Martial Arts

Cheng Ming is a combination of 4 major Chinese Internal Martial Arts (Tai Chi, Hsing-I, Ba-Gua & Nei Gung). The most known and taught is Tai Chi. As you get more experienced, we start to teach more advanced Internal Arts. The whole system promotes excellent health and well-being, and of course skills and applications in martial arts for self-defense.

The initial and grounding blocks of Chinese Internal Martial Arts is Zhan Zhuang (Nei Gung).  Zhan Zhuang focuses on accumulating chi and opening the meridians for improved chi circulation.  These standing exercises appear simple yet enhance energy, mental clarity and internal strength.  Tai Chi is then the next step in the process.

The Tai Chi Chuan form taught in the Cheng Ming martial arts system is derived from the “Orthodox Style” developed in 1929 by Great Grand Master Wang Shu-Jin.  It is a complete sequence synthesized from the five major schools (family styles) of Tai Chi Chuan. One of the driving goals in developing the “Orthodox Style” was the preservation of the essence of Tai Chi Chuan.  Every movement, transition and posture possesses a usable martial application and health benefit.

Grand Master Wang Fu-Lai together with Master Huang continue to diligently teach this traditional art via a select lineage around the world today.

Cheng Ming Tai Chi Chuan has one-hundred movements and is the foundation for training in Hsing-I Chuan and Ba-Gua Zhang within the Cheng Ming martial arts system.  Tai Chi fighting techniques are trained through a combination of form practice, application drills, and push hands, which itself includes a variety of push hands drills and freestyle push hands.
