Share your thoughts on a concept design for a new pump track in Warragul and help Baw Baw Shire Council secure funding for what would quickly become a much-loved community facility.

Pedal your way over to Baw Baw Connect today and have your say, your way to help shape a draft design for the newly proposed pump track, plus share your input on the overall look and feel.

The proposed community asset was prioritised by Council’s Cycling Project Reference Group, who came up with the short-term project to improve cycling infrastructure within the Shire.

The track is entirely dependent on external funding and grants, so we want your input to help develop the best design concept possible and secure State Government support for this exciting prospect.

The track could be used by any wheeled recreational user, including BMX, mountain bikes, skateboards, scooters, roller blades or adaptive bikes.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Danny Goss said not only would it improve cycling infrastructure in the municipality, but it would also bring another opportunity to the area for people to exercise and get to know fellow bike enthusiasts.

“We’re really hoping the State Government backs this initiative with some funding, as I think it’s a wonderful chance to support active recreation and healthy living, which is something we want to encourage at every stage of life for our locals,” he said.

West Ward Councillor Ben Lucas said he would support any possibility of improving and increasing sport and recreation in Baw Baw.

“We know that some members of our community have been calling for better cycling infrastructure in the local area for a long time, and this could be small step towards achieving that,” Cr Lucas said.

A Pump Track is a smaller version of a BMX track and is ideal for cyclists of all ages and skill sets. A pump track is a continuous track made up of rollers, jumps and berms that loops back onto itself allowing for some serious fun. For beginners, just rolling around the track makes for a fun experience and for more advanced riders, pump tracks allow for some serious skills training.

To have your say, your way on the concept design for the newly proposed track, head to Baw Baw Connect and share your thoughts before Monday 10 March.
