Baw Baw Shire Council’s latest round of community grants are now open, with local groups encouraged to make their submissions by 12.00pm, Friday 23 February before nominations close.
The current round of applications is for Round 2 of the 2023/24 Community Projects.
A pre-application appointment must be held with Council officers prior to submission; this mandatory process ensures that applications meet the eligibility criteria and can be considered by the assessment panel.
Council’s Community Grants Program supports not for profit groups and organisations to undertake activities or make purchases that are for the benefit of the local community. The Community Projects funding supports the delivery of community events, projects, programs, environmental initiatives and equipment purchases. Grants of up to $5,000 are available.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said that Council aims to support its local community groups and not for profit organisations in any way it can.
“We are very proud of our Community Grants Program, which over the last two years has provided more than $300,000 in funding,” Cr McCabe said.
“Our community groups make a huge difference across the Shire and we want to empower and support them the best way we can, and we know the difference providing financial support can make.”
During Round 1 of the Community Projects category of the grants funding, more than $140,000 was allocated across 33 local community groups. The types of projects which were funded included:
- Aberfeldy & District Association Inc.
$3,300 for a defibrillator and signage.
