Funded public art opportunities to brighten up Baw Baw
Published on 03 June 2022
Council is seeking expressions of interest from local artists and collectives to deliver exciting and vibrant public art pieces at three pedestrian friendly locations in Baw Baw.
As part of Council’s Outdoor Activations program, three busy locations have been identified for beautification with murals that will brighten up existing facades and promote the region’s unique character.
The three locations selected for the Brighten up Baw Baw Mural Projects are:
- 15 Napier Street, Warragul
- 13 Palmerston Street, Warragul
- Yarragon Public Toilet block
The successful applicants will be tasked with delivering artworks to a predetermined budget that align with set design themes for each location. These murals intend to seamlessly integrate with existing streetscapes and become sites of inspiration and creativity for locals and visitors alike.

“Public art plays a valuable role in beautifying our existing and sometimes full public spaces and projects like this provide a platform for artists to showcase their work for residents and visitors. The recent mural project in Tanjil Bren has transformed an ugly 1980s toilet block into something everyone admired and appreciates. We want to replicate this change elsewhere.
We have an incredibly talented arts community and I highly encourage them all to participate in these fantastic public art projects currently open.”
