Council awards over $95,000 in community grants across the Shire

Council has awarded over $95,000 in funding to 25 non-profit community organisations and associations across Baw Baw Shire through its Community Grants Program.
The Community Grants Program supports not for profit groups and organisations to undertake activities that help the community to be sustainable, healthy, and thriving.
The successfully funded community projects include:
Aberfeldy & District Association Inc.
$2,976.40 for the purchase of assorted gardening tools and fencing for the maintenance of the Aberfeldy Community Hub.
Aus. Hair of the Dog Rescue
$5,000 for the purchase and hire of a 950 Series Arch and event timing services for the Barkin Mad Ultra Run.
Baw Baw Sustainability Network Inc
$5,000 for website design, social media, and printing for the Creative Harvest Festival.
Baw Baw Veterans Cricket Club Inc
$2,401.87 for the purchase of club kit provisions including cricket bats, helmets, bowling machine, balls, wheel bag, stumps, leg guards and measuring tape.
Baw Baw Radio Modellers Association Gippsland Inc
$2,040 for the purchase of a defibrillator and first aid kit.
Drouin Cricket Club
$4,090 for the purchase of a Frogbox video capture kit and streaming passes.
Drouin Men's Shed
$3,200 for construction of a concrete path from the shed to toilet.
Drouin Uniting Church for Drouin Combined Churches Committee
$1,678.23 for delivery of the promotional pamphlet for the 2024 Drouin Christmas Carols by Australia Post.
Ellinbank Badminton Club Inc
$3,180 for the purchase of 100 dozen RSL classic shuttles for the “Shuttles for The Community” project.
Erica and District Historical Society Inc
$5,000 for the purchase of an extendable table and chairs.
Gippsland Umpires Association
$4,958.35 for installation of various facility security and equipment protection devices.
Gladiators Basketball Club
$3,701.73 for the purchase of various coaching bags and boards, and dome sets with stands.
Hillend & Grove Rovers Football Netball Club
$5,000 for the purchase of an outdoor netball scoreboard.
The Scout Association of Australia, Victorian Branch for Warragul Scouts Group
$5,000 for the purchase of a fit for purpose camping trailer.
Tetoora Road Community Centre - Community Asset Committee
$1,947.20 for the purchase of a wheelbarrow, lockable garage cabinets and tear drop display flags.
Thorpdale Mechanics Institute Reserve
$4,993 for the purchase of labour and materials for repair and maintenance of front entry area.
Warragul Amateur Swimming Club Inc
$5,000 for the purchase of portable sun protection shade marquees for swimmers, parents and volunteers.
Warragul Camera Club
$4,000 for venue hire and catalogue printing for the Warragul National Photographic Competition and Exhibition.
Warragul Farmers Market
$4,737 for event entertainment hire for the Country Fun Filled Family Fair event.
Warragul Municipal Band
$4,999 towards feasibility and musical equipment for Satellite Music Education Programs.
Warragul RSL Sub Branch Inc for Warragul RSL Pipes and Drums Band
$4,840 for the purchase of drum carriers and drum cases.
Warragul Toastmasters Club Inc
$2,646.94 for the purchase of conference camera and associated equipment to support digital and online learning.
West Gippsland Bush Walkers Inc
$2,279 for the purchase of essential office computer equipment.
Western Park Cricket Club
$2,200 for the purchase of deep cycle battery.
Yarragon Arts Council
$4,900 for performing artist fees for the Yarragon Studio Festival.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe congratulated all successful recipients on receiving funding for their respective community projects.
“Council has a proud history of working with community groups and volunteers to deliver the projects, programs, events and equipment that matter. We are thrilled to share over $95,000 in community grant funding across 25 community organisations throughout Baw Baw Shire - each doing important work to foster community spirit,” said Cr McCabe.
Successful projects align with the Baw Baw Shire Council Plan and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Submissions for a second round of Community Grants will open in February 2025.
