Council adopts revised Procurement Policy

Published on 05 September 2024

Following endorsement at the 4 September Council Meeting, Baw Baw Shire Council has officially adopted its Procurement Policy.

The Procurement Policy was informed by community consultation which ran for three weeks and closed on 25 July, offering the community the opportunity to contribute by reviewing the draft policy.

Overall, 80 people took part in the consultation process, and feedback from the community was incorporated into the final version of the policy.

Council is committed to fair, open and transparent procurement, and must review its Procurement Policy at least once during each four-year term of the Council.

The updated Procurement Policy has been revised to align with best practice measures in the sector, as outlined in the Victorian Local Government Best Practice Procurement Guidelines 2024.

The policy outlines the principles, processes and procedures that apply to the procurement of goods, services and works carried out by Council.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said she was pleased that the newly adopted policy reflected feedback from the community and demonstrated fair procurement.

“It’s a responsibility of Council to ensure that the policy is kept updated, and that all of its procurement activities follow the best practice principles of value for money, open and fair competition and transparency,” Cr McCabe said.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. Your feedback contributed to the policy, and I was pleased to see it adopted at the Council Meeting this week.”
