To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 10 May Council meeting.      

Planning and Development

Burnnett Court, Longwarry Re-naming

Council moved an alternate recommendation to defer the decision on the re-naming process for the east section of Burnnett Court, Longwarry, until no later than 12 July 2023, in order to enable more community engagement on this process.

Community Infrastructure

Public Road Register 2023/2024

  • Council endorsed the proposed amendments listed in Proposed Amendments - 2023/2024 to be included in and/or removed from the Public Road Register.
  • Council adopted the revised Public Road Register - 2023/2024 effective from 1 July 2023, and;
  • Noted the cost implications associated with this review of the Public Road Register on the Annual Budget, and the annual contract sum increase for CON2019060 Routine Road Maintenance effective from 1 July 2023. 

Review of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Study for Warragul and Drouin

Council endorsed the draft Pedestrian and Bicycle Study for Warragul and Drouin and approved the commencement of officer feasibility assessments into each of the study's recommendations.

Economic Development, Grants and Advocacy

Draft Creative Communities Strategy 2023-2029

Council endorsed the Draft Creative Communities Strategy 2023-2029 for community consultation between Monday 15 May to Monday 12 June 2023.

General Business Motion

Cr Goss tables a General Business Motion calling for a report to be brought back to Council no later than 12 July 2023 to outline the costs to Ratepayers to services and benefits provided to Councillors since the beginning of the current Council term, including a detailed cost breakdown for individual Councillors and for the group as a whole.

Mayoral Minute

Mayor McCabe shared a Mayoral Minute about the vigil for survivors of family and domestic abuse held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre last week. Cr McCabe spoke about the importance of advocacy in this space.
