Community requests lead to 17 projects funded in new budget

17 community-requested projects across seven townships will be funded in Council’s new annual budget as a direct result of community submissions made during the budget consultation process.
Totalling $590,000 the projects range from new footpath and park infrastructure to environmental improvements with the aim of improving user experience, convenience and residents enjoyment of outdoor environments.

Review of the Baw Baw Planning Scheme relating to Trafalgar and Trafalgar East and their immediate surrounds.

Construction of a walking trail between the Australian Alpine Walking Track and the Walhalla Railway Station.

Scoping and detailed design of a footpath connection
between Serene Court with the walking trail to Martin Court and Fernery Boulevard.

Installation of a footbridge/track that goes between the dog park and football oval at Brooker Park to connect the trail around the oval.

Trail and drainage improvements at Brooker Park.

|
|
|
Upgrades at Ellen Close Playground, clean up at the wetlands on Normanby Street and bridge upgrade.

|
New shelter, table and bench facilities in Chesterfield Estate.

Installation of a new footpath along Rodier Road between Summers Road and Loch Street.

A Special Council Meeting was held on Thursday 26 May to hear these community members budget submissions. Council heard from 27 submitters and considered many more written submissions.
Funding community-led projects is part of Council’s commitment to collaborating with the community to deliver the projects that matter.
