Annual Seniors Festival returns to Baw Baw this October

Published on 12 September 2024

Local seniors are invited to join in range of local events and activities celebrating the Victorian Seniors Festival across Baw Baw Shire this October.

The Victorian Seniors Festival is a major state-wide festival for Victorians over 60.

Throughout the month-long festival, there will be many opportunities for seniors to attend free and low-cost events and activities to suit a wide range of interests and abilities.

The festival is designed to bring seniors together to enjoy themselves, learn new skills and make new friends.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said this year’s festival line up would have something for everyone to enjoy.

“From watercolour painting to poetry, creative textiles to table tennis, and physical activity classes to the performances at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, this year's event guide will not disappoint,” said the Mayor.

“This festival is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill or try something different, and a great opportunity to connect with like-minded people in our community.

“We strongly encourage anyone over 60 to download a copy of our local event booklet and get involved in the action.”

In addition to local events and activities, all Victorian Seniors Card holders can explore Victoria with eight days of free public transport from 6 to 13 October 2024. This includes all regional and Melbourne trains, trams and buses. Travellers can simply touch their Myki cards on and off as usual, and they will not be charged.

For more information and to download a copy of the festival booklet, go to the Victorian Seniors Festival page on Council’s website. The booklets are also available at a wide range of locations in Baw Baw, including Post Offices, supermarkets and cafes. For a full list, visit our website.
