The resurfacing of the oval at Drouin Recreation Reserve is currently underway. The contract for this project was awarded to Evergreen Turf at a Council meeting in August 2024.

In July 2024 the State Government announced $1 million towards the project, which together with Council’s own contribution took the total value of this project to $3.3 million.

As of early 2025, the earthworks, the storm water drainage, the laying of the drainage gravel layer, and the concrete edging for the oval have all been completed. The next steps are to finalise the sand layer and to lay the new turf. A turf establishment period will follow.

The new playing surface at Drouin will eliminate current issues regarding drainage and water retention and will introduce a new type of turf, TifTuf, the most drought tolerant couch grass on the market.
