There are number of community events held across the Shire to celebrate Australia Day (Friday 26 January) in 2024.

Aberfeldy - Friday 26 January
12:00pm - 4:00pm at Clarke's Flat Cabins (270 Donnelly's Creek Rd, Aberfeldy)
Join in a free community barbecue lunch, flag raising celebrations and refreshments.
Athlone - Friday 26 January
11:30am - 4:00pm at the Athlone Hall
Come along for a free Community BBQ, flag-raising ceremony and opening of time capsule from 2022 centenary celebrations.
Cloverlea - Friday 26 January
12:00pm at the Darnum Tree Stump
Celebrate Australia Day with a free community barbecue.
Drouin - Friday 26 January
8:30am - 12:00pm Civic Park, Drouin
Enjoy a free community barbecue, morning tea, music entertainment, kids activities, community group displays and a flag-raising ceremony.
Hill End - Friday 26 January
6:00pm at the Hill End Community Centre (formerly Old Hill End School)
Celebrate with a flag raising ceremony and national anthem followed by a free barbecue and a trivia quiz.
Jindivick - Thursday 25 January
6:00pm at the Jindivick Hall
Kick off the long week with a community dinner from 6pm. Please RSVP for catering purposes to Nikki Cadzow - nikkicadzow@gmail.com.
Labertouche - Friday 26 January
8:00am - 10:00am and 4:00pm onwards at the Labertouche Community Centre
Come down for the free community BBQ breakfast from 8am.
Return in the afternoon from 4.30pm to join the cricket match, followed by dinner and movie night (outdoor screening of an Australian film).
Longwarry - Friday 26 January
11:00am at Bennett Street Park
Flag raising ceremony, barbecue and kids activities.
Narracan - Friday 26 January
7:00pm at the Narracan Hall
Celebrate Australia Day with a free family barbecue. BYO sides to share and/or sweets to share to make it a BBQ feast.
Neerim District - Friday 26 January
12:00pm Craig Watts Skate Park
Free Community BBQ, activities for all ages and the honouring of the "Neerim District Citizen of the Year".
Rawson - Friday 26 January
5:00pm Erica and District Historical Society, Pinnacle Drive, Rawson
Enjoy a free BBQ lunch and icy poles, bric a brac bargains the Erica and District Historical Society.
Shady Creek - Friday 26 January

Free breakfast event - no booking necessary. Come along for the presentation of Trafalgar’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards.
Warragul - Friday 26 January
10:30am- 11:30am West Gippsland Arts Centre
Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony in the West Gippsland Arts Centre Theatre.
12:00pm - 2:00pm West Gippsland Arts Centre Forecourt
Flag-raising ceremony, family-friendly activities, free community barbecue, Meg Doherty music entertainment, facepainting and games for the kids.
Yarragon - Friday 26 January
8:30am Market Street Park (corner Market and Murray Streets)
Come along for a BBQ breakfast, tea and coffee provided.
There will be music and some activities, including a kid's water play activity organised by the Yarragon Fire Brigade.
